I spent last Sunday sitting in the living room watching TV with my family and cutting out yards upon yards of material for some hot pads, pot holders, and apron ideas I had and coming up with some new ideas of things to create such as purses, bags, and notebook holders. Then of course last night my craft muse decided to switch materials on me and now I have the urge to crochet again. I have to love how the mood just strikes and I feel I must switch mediums entirely, thus leaving unfinished projects in my wake.
The one good thing about substitute teaching is I have ample time on my hands to come up with ideas and even work on some projects while I have a prep period or lunch period. Then again, on half days such as today I know that I will have time to go home and get some things finished... which is always nice.
Last night I was rummaging through my yarn basket ready to satisfy my sudden urge to crochet when I realized my gigantic crochet hook (that I don't really need right this second) is missing... this saddened me greatly and put yet another idea in my head... "I need to sew myself a crochet hook holder"... therefore I believe when I get home today that is what I will work on, though, as I will have the sewing machine out for that... I will probably also work on getting those other sewing projects I got cut out going too. Then again there is the crochet floppy/slouchy beret I started last night that I should probably finish. I should also probably warn you that I never really follow patterns for any of my crafty projects... I generally get some ideas from books or the internet and then come up with my own patter via trial and error. Hopefully when I finish the beret I will post the pattern I have created here for the use of anyone who would like to try it. I mainly got this idea from watching the movie "The Secret Garden" with Kate Maberly. It was always one of my favorite movies growing up and it still holds a special place in my heart. But in that movie she wears this fun super slouchy knit hat that I love, so in a way I am trying to recreate something similar, yet I don't want it to fall over my eyes like hers did, nor do I want to to be quite so enormous. lol.

Hopefully later I will post some pictures of the things I have been working on during the day (my super awesome sock creatures) and get some sewing and crocheting done... so that's it for me for now... off to teach...
Here's a picture of Mary Lennox in the slouchy hat...
I don't know if it's the hat, the pigtails, the scarf or the sly look on her face... but it makes me want to put on a nice fun slouchy hat and go jump some rope and cause some mischief. :)
